The first annual International Zen Festival (iZen) announced it is now accepting film submissions in all genres. iThe Zen’s mission is to foster hope for humanity by showcasing films that focus on compassion, spiritual well-being, improving humanity, and the resilience of the human spirit.
The festival is open to all film genres, traditional and experimental, including documentary and narrative features, short films, music videos, animated films, unscripted television programs, and a screenplay competition. The festival will also host best-in-class filmmaker Q&As, panels, parties, and awards.
Looking for an Eclectic Mix
“We look to program an eclectic mix of entertainment to support our mission,” said festival co-founder and director Laura Law-Millett. “Filmmakers of all experience levels are encouraged to apply as we look to amplify a diversity of voices.”
While iZen is in its first year, the festival’s organizers previously co-founded and led the GI Film Festival (GIFF), for 14 years. GIFF brought together the biggest people and brands in entertainment, including Disney, MGM, NBC Universal, Discovery, and many more, while attracting A-list Hollywood talent. The festival, which explores the sacrifices of military servicemembers and their families, as well as the devastating consequences of war, is now operated by PBS.
A Filmmaker-Friendly Fest
“Our goal is to produce the most filmmaker-friendly festival in the nation,” said iZen co-founder and co-director Brandon Millett. “Not only do we place a priority on helping filmmakers succeed by earning distribution, but we also look to create unforgettable personal experiences for them.”
